Digital Strategist (Cape Town- Agency)

Purpose of Job:

The Digital Strategy Manager is responsible for building and maintaining strategic insights and plans across key accounts, New Business, pitches and other ad hoc initiatives. The role will require some interaction with both senior client contacts as well as senior personnel within the company.

Responsibility sits across the digital arm of the business and in part will ensure that overall operational delivery of digital is being done efficiently, and this would be relevant across various digital channels or departments.

It is pivotal that in the position of Digital Strategy Manager that you can immerse yourself in our clients primary digital objectives, KPIS and future market opportunities that may arise.

The role requires an excellent understanding of digital principles, cross channel strategies and an eye for new technologies and techniques, how the channels and markets operate, plus an advanced analytical aptitude would be beneficial.

It requires an ability to be highly motivated, numerate and articulate, both when speaking to clients, writing documents and analysing results. It also requires initiative and pro-activity in identifying new directions and changes to current strategies, improving efficiencies for client, and conducting business reviews.

The candidate should understand how other media can influence digital and have a key knowledge of the digital technology used to optimise clients accounts and research tools available in the market that can aid in any market research needed.

Operational Skills & Requirements:

  • Building strong digital strategies for current and new clients.
  • Be the driving force in adjusting to new digital channels and strategies.
  • Have a strong technical digital background, with the ability to identify key measurements across digital channel or tracking interfaces
  • Alerting the Directors of the company to new opportunities for further sales, growth or directions within key clients.
  • Adjusting current customer strategies to incorporate other digital offerings or products the company offers.
  • Helping to set and establish client KPIs with the support of the broader team.
  • Achieving client targets and KPI's as agreed to by client and the team.
  • Escalating and resolving areas of concern as raised by clients.
  • Monitoring company performance against service level agreements and flagging potential issues.
  • Liaising with internal departments to ensure that strategies are followed and the result match the expectations from the client.
  • Supplying monthly and quarterly internal business reviews and reports
  • New business and RFP input will be key
  • The ability to analyze current results and channel performance with the scope to adjust and expand in new directions both for the agency and key clients.
  • Have the ability or an understanding of how search, display and social campaigns are created - from keyword and ad copy creation to creative formats, budgets and tracking technologies.
  • Be knowledgeable of the day to day management of a search, display and Social account.
  • Support and manage the planning and forecasting of budgets for monthly activity.
  • Support the strategic directions of Search, Display & Social accounts within the agency team and for clients.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with other relevant departments.
  • Understand the role of digital in the wider marketing mix.

Bonus Skills

  • Be competent in the use of client specific management tools - for example, DoubleClick, Analytics packages such as Google Analytics and Omniture, Kissmetrics, as well as market research tools including but not limited to Google Insights for Search, Similar Web etc.
  • Present client results, marketplace updates and competitive reports.
  • Demonstrate confidence and clarity in communicating with the senior team and clients.
  • Demonstrate a high competency of using Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, Google Drive, Sheets, Slides and Docs
  • Be administratively competent, utilizing fully all the tools that the company uses to manage clients' accounts and internal business such as but not limited to Harvest, Asana, Skype and Slack.
