Every1Mobile is a fast-growing, private equity-backed mobile services and technology company which designs, builds and runs large digital social impact programmes across sub-Saharan Africa and other emerging markets, with the emphasis on sustainability. Head of Technical Services
The Head of Technical Services is responsible for all aspects of the company’s technical development and its relations with partners with whom E1M integrates its technologies. In addition, the head of technical services is responsible for the company’s internal ICT infrastructure and resilience.

Main responsibilities

Software development management
Manages the Brighton and Cape Town development team, and any technical/operational partners with respect to integrations with our platform or in support of our delivery solutions. Leads this team to produce high-quality code and functionality in acceptably fast timescales. Manages the standards to which all coding and work schedule is done, using Agile techniques. Is responsible for proactive and good communication to all relevant parties with respect to delivery of code and functionality. Evaluates new technologies, their suitability, cost, and integration with existing E1M technologies and systems. Provision of excellent data and transaction structures that allow E1M to optimise its use of data and the reporting thereof. Development of the internal CMS system and its continuing development as a SaaS product SaaS.

BI Development Function
Manages, from a back-end perspective, ensuring suitable database and transaction record structures to support the extensive BI analytics required by our clients.
DevOps – Responsible for development operations, platform availability, resilience, and disaster recovery. Will continually develop the platform flexibility in terms of its infrastructure with respect to multiple instances of the code, open-source initiatives, and enterprise client integrations.

Pre-sales and Post-sales Technical Support
Represents E1M at a technical level in business meetings, events and proposals, providing credibility to E1M’s offering with clients and partners. Works both internally and with clients to understand and document the needs and requirements of a given project, providing the foundation for product development, and specifies new functionality to be developed by the development team. Technical support for live end-users and client administrators.

ICT Systems and Support
Manages the company’s IT infrastructure (mainly outsourced), including LAN, source-code repository, storage and offsite hosting. Is responsible for the company’s ITC resilience, security, disaster recovery, backups, and up-time. He is responsible for the creation and management of E1M’s email and document-storage capabilities, as well as administrative tasks for the purchase and management of domains and E1M’s own user management.

Technical supplier management
Manages the relationships with technical and communications services and product providers to the company. He ensures appropriate and economic integration with technologies and data via their suppliers and systems.

•Significant Agile development experience
•Business analysis skills to support ‘product owner’ responsibilities
•Ability to write technical specs
•A pragmatic and flexible approach to the product development cycle
•Team leadership and the ability to motivate
•An informed understanding and interest in mobile, web, app, and messaging technical developments
•Understand how to test in an Agile context
